1. Let's catch up

It’s been a while since we've forwarded our users a StrokeAverage.com newsletter so without further ado, let’s catch up.

A New Face

StrokeAverage.com is currently being given a bit of a face lift, with the newer look due for release within the next month, so watch this space.

The Course Database Just Got A Whole Lot Bigger

Yes that’s right, we’re in the process of increasing our course database for our members to use. Just recently 32,000 courses were added from the U.S.A. (that’s over 70% coverage), and very soon an even bigger percentage coverage of the U.K. will be added as well.

Forum and Reviews

We’ve teamed up with our friends at www.golfmagic.com to provide our users with their own forum and review section. We would love for you to ask questions, post blogs and write reviews on your experiences using StrokeAverage.com, even if you don’t use the system anymore (we’d like to know why so that we can improve). Prizes are often given away so it’s well worth taking a look.

2. My Journey Around The World (by John Franks)

strokeaverage.comnewsletter2008january5.jpgAs many of you know, in 2007 I caddied for Andrew Coltart on the European Tour, travelling to more than twenty different countries around the world. It was nothing less than an incredible experience both professionally and personally and I must thank Mr C (as I call him) for the opportunity to learn so much. Below are a few highlights from the year.

My favourite place visited:

Singapore, you have to go there.

The craziest place visited:

Thailand, it's reputation precedes it.

The scariest place visited:

Leopard Creek in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. Just don’t get eaten by the leopard, LOL. It was brill.

The most bizarre place visited:

An indoor ski resort on the side of a shopping mall, in Dubai. Say no more.

My favourite course layout:

Carnoustie, Scotland. It’s awesome.

My favourite greens:

Emirates Club, Dubai. Like putting on glass.

My overall favourite course:

St Andrews, Scotland. Is there any other?

My favourite caddy experience:

Mr C equalling the tour record most birdies made in a row (seven) during round one of the KLM Open.

My worst caddy experience:

Stepping on the ball (which meant we encountered a penalty shot) during round three of the KLM Open.
