Chris Sells (born August 1971) started playing golf at the age of 12. He grew up as a member of Shirley Park Golf Club in Surrey alongside golfing buddies John Franks and Mark Side, and has held a handicap of around five for the past fifteen years.
Chris was educated at St Dunstans College in Catford, London and then the University of Dundee, where he obtained an Upper Second in Manufacturing Engineering and Management. After leaving university, he worked as a contracts manager and technical sales consultant for Kair Ventilation Ltd.
The golf stats side of things started in the summer of 1999 when Chris caddied for Mark Side on the international golf amateur circuit. It represented an exciting year as Mark excelled, winning several golf tournaments including the Selborne Salver, The British Strokeplay Championships (known as the Brabazon Trophy) and the Golf Illustrated Gold Vase, earning him a position in the England team for the Home Internationals.
It was over this period that Chris noticed a lack of products available for golfers by way of golf performance analysis and golf stats analysis. This was reinforced when as a member of the England golf team, Mark was given a very basic golf stats program to help him analyze his golf stats.
So with it being a keen interest for Chris, he started researching the game of golf eventually analyzing the careers of more than two hundred of the best golfers of all time. This provided the foundations for Chris to revolutionize the way the game of golf should be analyzed and more importantly, the tools a player needs to be a great golfer.
Due to the success of Mark Side in 1999, Chris developed many contacts in the game of golf. And in 2001, he started his own golf performance analysis service helping seven English golfers for free. These golfers were:
